Public Safety and Community Trust

Safety is not just about policing. It is about connection, understanding, and trust.

Real safety comes from connection and trust, not just policing. When communities are supported with youth programs, mental health resources, safe public spaces, and leaders who actually listen, neighborhoods become safer for everyone. Trust is built long before an emergency happens, and violence is prevented when people feel valued, respected, and seen.

Public safety in District 9 must be proactive, community centered, and grounded in accountability.

As your congressman, Earnest Clayton will:

• Invest in community based violence prevention programs that address root causes before crime happens.

• Improve emergency response systems to ensure faster fire, police, and EMS support in high risk areas.

• Expand mental health crisis services, including stronger 988 staffing, training, and coordination, so families get real help in moments of crisis without relying only on law enforcement.

• Strengthen disaster and chemical release notifications to give residents timely and accurate information.

• Secure federal funding for safer streets, including lighting, sidewalks, and traffic safety improvements.

• Increase transparency and accountability in public safety agencies to rebuild trust.

• Support youth programs and mentorship opportunities that keep young people engaged and safe.
