District 9 is home to families of every background, culture, and history — yet many still face discrimination, unequal treatment, unsafe environmental conditions, and barriers to basic rights like voting, fair housing, and workplace protections. Communities are dealing with political attacks, misinformation, and policies that target vulnerable groups instead of supporting them. When rights are weakened, entire neighborhoods suffer.
Every person deserves dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law — no exceptions.
Civil rights in District 9 must be protected, strengthened, and enforced at every level.
As your congressman, Earnest Clayton will:
• Protect voting rights and oppose efforts to restrict ballot access, gerrymander districts, or silence underrepresented communities.
• Support strong workplace protections, including fair wages, anti-discrimination enforcement, and protections against harassment.
• Fight for fair housing rights, ensuring families are not denied housing, overcharged, or pushed out of neighborhoods due to discrimination or industrial expansion.
• Defend immigrant families, ensuring they have access to fair processes, legal protections, and safe communities free from intimidation.
• Strengthen federal protections for LGBTQ+ residents, supporting equal treatment in healthcare, employment, housing, and public spaces.
• Expand access to legal aid and civil rights enforcement, so working families have real support when their rights are violated.
• Promote community oversight and accountability, ensuring that public institutions — including law enforcement — serve residents with fairness and transparency.
• Support environmental justice protections, holding industries accountable when their actions harm low-income or minority neighborhoods.
